Getting sober turned out to be the most punk rock thing I’ve ever done. At the time, though, I was afraid I’d never be creative again. I was afraid I’d lose all my friends in the business. Because so much of advertising culture had revolved around drinking, I was afraid the stigma of NOT drinking would lead directly to NOT working. Nobody should feel that way when they are launching the most important campaigns of their lives. That’s why I started Snake Dog Journal. With reporting from the intersection of sobriety and culture, Snake Dog Journal will spotlight sober people in creative industries crushing work and life and (hopefully) debunk the myth of the drunk creative genius once and for all.
